Frequently Asked Questions

You will only need a referral from your local doctor if you are being seen under Workers Comp, DVA, Motor Accident Claim or a Medicare Care Plan.

If you are using your Private Health Insurance or settling your own account then a referral is not needed.

Loose, comfortable clothing is best so you can move freely during your assessment. We’ll need to have a look at the relevant body parts so we may need to ask you to remove some clothing so we can assess and treat you properly.

It’s a good idea to wear or bring some shorts for lower limb problems. We have hospital-type gowns available to protect your modesty as needed.

We have both a female and male physiotherapist so if you have a preference for which physio you’d rather see, just let us know when you make your appointment.

  • A referral if you have one
  • Any scans or tests (like X-rays, ultrasounds, CT or MRI scan reports) that are relevant to your injury
  • If you’ve had surgery, a copy of your operation report and any post-op physio protocols your surgeon wants us to follow.
  • If you’re being seen under a Care Plan bring a copy of your Care Plan referral and your Medicare Card
  • You’ll need to show your Pension Card to be charged at our pensioner rate

If you’re unsure, please ask at the time of making your appointment and we’ll let you know what you need to bring.

Your first appointment is all about finding our what the problem is, planning what we’ll do about it, and getting started on treatment right away!

We’ll listen to what’s going on, ask questions about your problem (like how it happened, where your pain is, how long it’s been bothering you, what makes it better or worse) and how your problem is affecting your ability to do your daily activities, work, sport and hobbies.

We’ll have a look at how you move and measure a few things to see what your body is doing and how it’s misbehaving. We’ll let you know what we’re doing along the way so you know what’s going on and what it all means.

After the assessment, we’ll have a good idea of what’s going on and will explain it to you so you understand. We’ll explain what treatment is needed and get started during your first visit.

We use a combination of hands-on treatment techniques and exercises to help get you back on track. You’ll more than likely be given some home exercises at your first appointment so you can start correcting the problem right from Day 1.

People with chronic or complex health care needs may be eligible for up to 5 visits per year where Medicare will rebate about 90% of the consultation fee.

If eligible, your doctor can develop a Chronic Disease Management Plan and refer you for physiotherapy under the Chronic Disease Management Program.

You will need to pay your consultation fee in full at the time of your appointment.

We’ll process your Medicare claim on the spot and the rebate will be deposited into your bank account usually within 48hrs.

Please talk to your local GP if you want to find out more about physiotherapy under this scheme.

Definitely not! We often use massage as part of our treatment but we also use a variety of other hands-on techniques to get your joints moving, and your muscles stretched and strengthened.

We also really love correcting things so they’re less likely to recur so exercises are a really important part of what physios do.

If you’ve never tried physio come and see for yourself. It’s definitely more than a massage!

I wonder who started this rumour? It’s impossible to separate injuries into categories like ‘bones’ or ‘muscles’. It’s all connected (don’t make us sing the song!)

Physios are pain and movement experts who can look after your bones, muscles, ligaments, cartillage, fascia, nerves, brain, lungs and make sure they’re all coordinated and functioning at their best!

Glad you asked. We love our Spotify and have all the licences to play it all day long. If you ask nicely we might even do requests!
